Award-Winning Invention from AI & Biomechatronics Lab

Developed in our lab under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Erhan Akdoğan and carried out within the PhD research of Dr. Sıtkı Kocaoğlu, the autonomous and extendable tumor prosthesis has been recognized as a groundbreaking innovation in bone cancer treatment, winning the TÜRKPATENT Best Academic Invention Award at ISIF 2025.

Designed especially for children in their growth phase, this system eliminates the need for repeated surgeries and enables healthy development by automatically adjusting to the length difference between the prosthetic and healthy limb. With its wirelessly rechargeable battery and intelligent control mechanism, it represents a first in the medical literature.

Our invention has also been patented in Europe, Japan, and China, securing international protection and recognition.
